Stock Village Nursery is a family run business and has been growing in the village of Stock for over 25 years. The business originated through our love of propagating our own plants and sharing the fruits of our labour with other keen gardeners. From starting out growing a small selection of shrubs and conifers, we now have an ever-growing portfolio of over 300 different varieties of plants. We understand that not everybody is a knowledgeable gardener (even we don’t know it all!) and for that reason we welcome novices and professionals alike.

At Stock Village Nursery we take our own cuttings and still mix all our compost by hand, so it is tailor-made to suit each individual variety. This means that the plant you buy has had the best start in life and is ideally suited to the climate in which you live.

In addition, our plants haven’t travelled from other nurseries or been imported from foreign countries, keeping the cost to you as low as possible. Our aim is to be as kind to the environment as we can and keep our carbon footprint to a minimum. For example we use locally produced plastic pots and trays (made in Battlesbridge) and stock a range of Kings Seeds to sell (based in Colchester).

We’re currently closed for our winter break and will re-open in February. If you’re making a special visit, please call to check if we’re open as adverse weather conditions will effect if we’re there or not (we don’t like working in sub-zero temperatures!).
